Is Chivalry Dead?

Recently I was accused of not being a gentleman for opening a car door for a lady.

Yes. The definition of the word is "the medieval knightly system with its religious, moral, and social code." It is associated with ideals of knightly virtues, honor, and courtly love. Today's society has greatly decayed to a standard that strays far from this definition. Chivalry requires cooperation from both genders.
Before I delve any further into this issue, we need to define the term "lady." It is defined as a woman (used as a polite or old-fashioned form of reference) of superior social position. Both the roles of males and females has evolved and been warped into something a lot different. The average person's sense of morality has been decayed.
The first point i'm going to discuss is premarital sex. Back in the time period where chivalry was very alive, this subject was seen as taboo. Women were a lot less promiscuous than they are today. Men would go through greater lengths for a virgin than someone who has been around the block. Knights would slay dragons and climb tall towers for a virgin. A woman who has lost her virginity and has had many partners has less of a value than a virgin princess. A new car is always better than a used one. Today's woman is very unlikely to have a fairy tale true because of this. Simply put, they aren't worth as much anymore.
Another, less chauvinistic reason for the death of chivalry, is woman's current social standing. Women have come a very long way in terms of civil rights. They are becoming more and more independent. Simply put, there is no need for it anymore. Because they are coming out of the kitchen, they don't need men to do as many things for them anymore. Sure a car door being opened for you is nice, but not necessary. Women's are becoming more and more equal to men. It would be like one bro opening the door for another... except a bro with a vagina. Women own their own cars now. They can open the door for themselves.
Men are taking advantage of women's rise in status, well, black men mostly. Any time there is an opportunity for them to do less work, believe it is going to be utilized.

Personally, I don't see any reason for chivalry to be dead. A lady deserves a gentleman, and a gentleman deserves a lady. But if you aren't a lady, don't expect a gentleman.

The War

Just another product of this matrix
This maze I’m in amazes me at times
I just wanted to be at peace with you
And if I gotta settle for a piece of you,
then I gotta say peace to you.
With all due respect I do respect you enough to expect…
effort is all i ask.
If we gonna last more, I gotta ask for more
and if that means that I’m askin for too much
I’m sure we’ll end up as our last or…past
we bash
we blast
we shoot
we lose
we pass…..war

Chippy D

Daughter of Laurence Fishburne, Montana (aka Chippy D) has recently debuted the preview to her upcoming sex tape. Not only this, but she didn't mention anything to her father about it before it appeared all over the internet. I can't imagine how he felt when he saw his daughter naked and knees deep in pornstar penis. Sorry Morpheus, your daughter's a whore.

More About Nothing

Wale's new mixtape, More About Nothing dropped today. I'm just now cruising through the 21 tracks and so far i'm pleased. The mixtape is pretty diverse, with a little something for everybody in it. Although being from the DMV, I've been following Wale ever since he was strictly a gogo artist. I was sad that this mixtape didn't feature any of his original gogo and hip hop mix that many of us expect from Wale. Overall, a good mixtape.

My Take on Inception

Christopher Nolan pulled a page right out of the Sopranos' book with this one. For readers who haven't seen the movie yet, I suggest you navigate away from this page because i'm going to discuss the details.

As most of you know, the movie cuts off before we are able to verify Cobb's totem. The message we are supposed to get is that it is irrelevant whether Cobb is currently in limbo, or reality. The only thing that matters is that he got what he wanted most, to go home and see his children again. Limbo, or not, it was real to Cobb.

After that being said, some people still would like to know. I'm not completely sure but there are some things I would like to point out.

Either way, Cobb's totem would prove useless. The purpose of a totem is to tell if you are in the dream world, or reality. It works like this:
The totem is only known by the owner. He/she is the only person in the universe who knows it in and out. The exact, size, weight, ect. The architect of the dream would not be able to recreate a person's totem accurately because they don't have enough information about it. However, three people knew about Cobb's totem. Since he got it from his wife, she knew everything about it. He also told Ariadne the key to his totem. So Ariadne would be able to accurately recreate the totem in the dream world, and so would the projection of Mal. So whether the totem fell or not in the ending, it would not indicate a dream state or reality.

Secondly, the whole concept of limbo is incredibly confusing. When Mal and Cobb visited the first time, they were the only two inhabitants, leading me to believe that it is a collective unconscious. This is what I believe happened. In the order of events, Cobb and Ariadne wash up on the shore of what is supposed to be Limbo. It is the same world that Mal and Cobb had created thousands of dream years ago. They find Fischer, who along with Ariadne leaves limbo.Cobb then gets stabbed by Mal. Dying in Limbo is supposed to wake you up into the previous level of the dream state. There are many possibilities here. However, when Cobb arrives at whatever state Saito is in, he is the only one that washes up on the shore. Maybe being killed by Mal took him into a deeper level, where Saito resided. Since Saito was injured throughout all the levels, it is possible that he died in the first limbo before Cobb did. That is why he was extremely aged and Cobb was unchanged.

There are many ways it could have ended but I think this is the most likely. What are your thoughts?

Correction

I just wanted to point out a mixup that i recently made. My last post was said to be a guide to success. However, the word "success" was a typo. It is actually a guide to completely fucking everything up. Sorry guys...
Once again, it's a guide for complete FAILURE... not success...
Sorry for any inconvenience.

College

Many people come up to me, wondering how i've achieved so much success during my freshman year. So upon request, i've assembled this five step guide to excellence as you matriculate through the duration of your undergraduate experience.

1. Every single door that you see, you must kick in.

2. Every single opportunity that you have to consume alcohol, you must seize it.

3. Every single member of the opposite sex, you must hit on.

4. Every single one of your professors of the opposite sex, you must hit on.

5. Every single class must be skipped at least once a week.

I Heard a Joke Once

I heard a joke once.

Man goes to doctor, says he's depressed. Life seems harsh and cruel.

Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain.

Doctor says "Treatment is simple. The great clown, Pagliacci, is in town. Go see him. That should pick you up".

Man bursts into tears. "But doctor", he says, "I am Pagliacci."

Good joke.

Everybody laughs.

Roll on snare drum.

Curtains.

Pretty Girls

Recently, Wale has been getting alot of criticism on his new video, Pretty Girls. Most of the criticism is about the choice of women selected for the video. I haven't seen it yet but apparently almost all of the women are light skinned and about one or two are darker. The message that women are receiving is that dark skinned girls aren't as pretty....

So?

Some men aren't attracted to dark skin girls. Are you going to hate them for that?
Skin tone is a characteristic just like any other (height, weight, hair type, color, etc).
If you are going to ridicule one man for having a specific preference about a single characteristic, then you must ridicule everyone including yourself. If a woman was to make a music video, i'm sure it would feature alot of muscular dudes. Women aren't generally attracted to scrawny guys with bird chests. If you have the right to get mad at us for not liking dark skin girls, then what prevents us from getting mad at you for not liking scrawny guys? Wale's criticizers are being extremely hypocritical. Getting angry because somebody doesn't like them. You can't change somebody's likes and dislikes but most importantly, you can't be mad because god gave them those specific preferences.

Afro Angel

Here I stand before you
Brown
Color of the mountains
Colossal as the earth
Wrapped so deliciously within my own joy and misery
Feathers of my wings paralyzed by the distance of mind
Here I stand before you, the color of the night
Frozen by the potential of me
An Afro Angel

Food Inc.

So I have an aunt who is a vegetarian. She claims that meat is unhealthy for people to consume and causes things like heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure etc. She gets these "facts" from various sources like books, magazines, and movies. In my opinion, this information is very misleading. What these herbivores fail to realize is that not ALL meats are unhealthy. Of course eating a Big Mac every day is going to kill you. But even red meats that are low in fat are more beneficial than harmful to people. The facts that these sources present to their audience are very misleading because they leave out key evidence. These studies are performed by animal activists and contain very strong biases. Watch a documentary made by chain like McDonalds and they would say the complete opposite. So that would mean that one of them is lying right? No. They just use key facts to support their arguments and leave out the ones that oppose. The key to being healthy isn't taking meat completely out of your diet, but eating the right ones. Meats that are low in fat and cholesterol are ideal. Also meats that have pesticides, steroids, and other chemicals should be avoided. But yes, fast food is completely out of the question.
The only reason some are trying to get others to stop eating meat is because they think it's "inhumane." They can't accept animals being slaughtered to be consumed. WELL, this is something that they should realize isn't going to change. At least animals die for a good cause. Where are these animal freaks when actual PEOPLE are being slaughtered? Where were they at when millions were killed in a genocide in Darfur? Where were they at when people were being murdered and raped in the Congo over Coltan mining? Did they boycott products using this coltan? Not at all. So don't donate to the "save an animal foundation," but rather to the "save a child from hunger foundation."

For example, my vegetarian sister today ate a pizza. Now let's compare a small cheese pizza with some grilled chicken from KFC. The small cheese pizza has 610 calories and 27 grams of fat. Whereas a grilled chicken thigh has 140 calories and 9 grams of fat. A drumstick has 70 calories and 4 grams of fat. In this situation, even though she is not consuming meat, her diet is still very unhealthy.

Inadequacy

Imagine if you needed to scream,
but found you could not do as much,
as though you were trapped in someone's dream
and really honestly, wanted to scream
but couldn't.

Imagine, if you needed to see
but found you could not do as much
and never knew garden from street
Always honestly wished to see,
but couldn't

Imagine, if you needed to hear
but found you could not do as much
could never appreciate
whispers in your ear.
always, always needed to hear
but couldn't

Imagine, if you needed to touch
but found you could not do as much
and could not feel the splendid shapes,
the warmth of hands, hair and such
always....always wanted to feel
but couldn't

The Brain

So, as a resident in Graves Hall at Morehouse, my brothers and I often get into intense debates. I remember one of which being about a common belief that people only use 10% of their brains. I, of course, was the only one who opposed this. After some careful research, we came to the conclusion that I was correct and humans constantly use 100% of the brain. What people don't realize is how much is going on apart from conscious activities.
Another debate arose when I mentioned the fact that for males, 2 drinks (including beer) a day is actually healthy for an adult male. Everyone agreed that red wine was good for you, but god forbid beer. Some of the reasons this was supposed to be false is because of the number of brain cells alcohol kills. Well, after some more thorough research, it was proven that 2 beers a day is actually good for you. It was also discovered that alcohol doesn't even kill brain cells.
My accounting teacher in the 12th grade one day told me that every time you learn something new, you get a wrinkle on your brain. We ended up arguing back and forth for a good five minutes of the class because I begged to differ. I really couldn't believe that my teacher actually thought this was true. So, we hit the books and found out that this was indeed false. Wrinkles on our brain are developed through growth. The ridges (gyri) and crevices (sulci) are formed through the growth of the brain. A fetus has a very smooth brain but as it develops, the brain forms these gyri and sulci to be able to fit inside the skull. It is said that if unfolded, the brain would be about the "size of a pillowcase."

Monkey See, Monkey Do?

I happened to come across this video about Chimpanzee research:

A great philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche is highly acclaimed because of his book, Beyond Good and Evil. In it, he discusses human nature. More specifically, their "need to obey." He relates the majority of people to a "herd" because of their habitual blind following.

This video is a good representation of humans and their tendency to imitate. I wonder why, even though the boy can clearly see that his actions are unnecessary, he follows through just because the adult before him did so.

Why is it that a being as primitive as a chimpanzee is able to realize what's going on and get straight to the point?
