Monkey See, Monkey Do?

I happened to come across this video about Chimpanzee research:

A great philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche is highly acclaimed because of his book, Beyond Good and Evil. In it, he discusses human nature. More specifically, their "need to obey." He relates the majority of people to a "herd" because of their habitual blind following.

This video is a good representation of humans and their tendency to imitate. I wonder why, even though the boy can clearly see that his actions are unnecessary, he follows through just because the adult before him did so.

Why is it that a being as primitive as a chimpanzee is able to realize what's going on and get straight to the point?
